Description

Virna Borgogno and her husband Gianni Abrigo are particularly focused on expressions of cru Barolo. One of the most special wines of Virna is Cannubi Boschis Nebbiolo because of the depth and clarity of the fruit. The Cannubi Boschis hill is where these two different types of soil merge, and this is why the Cannubi cru has become so famous, combining the elegance of one with the power of the other.

After the Malolactic fermentation in spring, 50% of the wine is decanted in to Tonneau, in which matures for 18 months and 50% in Slavonian oak barrels, in which matures for 6 to 12 months. Then they get belended toghther. After clarification, the wine is bottled without filtration and stay for another 12 months before packaging and consignment. The best vintage of this Barolo became Riserva.

This 2004 Barolo has a rich bouquet which gradually recalls the scents of roses, truffles and wood spice. The palate is at first elegant and refined, then is begins to gain it complexity with air, blending harmoniously in to a delicate round flavor. The aroma of solid rip fruit with polished tannins. It has very long and silky finish. Wine Spectator 91 Points.
