Description

The three varietals of Sangrantino 15%, Montepulciano 15%, and Sangiovese 70% in this wine are blended perfectly, then aged in 25 hL oak barrels for 9 months with clarification in cement vats occurring for 3 months, and lastly bottle aging for 6 months. The result is a deep ruby red color with purple tints with a bouquet abounding in wild berries, cherries, plums and enjoyable toasted aromas. This is a beautifully balanced wine. Serve this wine with risotto, tagliatelle, ravioli, rare beef, roasted and grilled meats or poultry, and mature hard cheeses. The small amount of Sagrantino (15%) in the blend goes a long way to bolster the cherry-like fruitiness of Sangiovese and adds a savory character. This attractively earthy wine is ready to drink now with a hearty dish on a winters night.
