The Nieddera grape is
present in Sardinia, in really small plots mostly in the provinces of Cagliari,
Nuoro and Oristano. In Sardo, typical dialect of the island, “Nieddu” means black,
because Nieddera is a black grape variety, very dark, that produces wines of
intense color. The Nieddera has uncertain origins, although for some it would
seem to originate from Carignano, a native vine of Sardinia. It is used in wine
production IGT Valle del Tirso.

spherical with thin, not very waxy skin. The bunch is medium, conical, with one
or two wings and a medium, pentagonal, five-lobed leaf. Nieddera Grapes
The Nieddera grape
variety produces red wines of great body and structure. They tend to have a perfumed
nose of violets and wild berries, a palate exhibiting bright fruit flavors of
blackberries and botanical herbs complemented by chewy tannins and brisk
acidity.
