Colli Orientali del Friuli is nestled in the Friuli-Venezia region on the border of Slovenia in the foothills of the Italian Alps. Limestone soil along with the high altitude and steep vineyards provide the perfect microclimate for some of the worlds best white wines.
Sauvignon is a native French grape variety that is very adaptable to most climates, which is why it is present in both the New World and Old World wines. However, when it is grown in the terraced vineyards of the Colli Orientali del Friuli region, it is often a full-bodied, mineral wine drastically different from the sweeter and fruitier Sauvignons of the New World.
