For four generations, Filippo Grasso has produced wines in the Etna DOC.  Their vineyards are planted on volcanic soil called ripiddu, which basically means "little rocks".  With their understanding of the unique character of these vineyards, the team at Filippo Grasso are passionate about creating wines that express the distinctive qualities of the rippidu.  To do this, they do not use any barrels or wood when crafting the wine.  The result is high quality wines that are more drinkable, more fruit forward, and more flavorful than any other Etna we know on the market.

Mari di Ripiddu is largely produced from a rarer grape, carricante.  It has a very dry and mineral character to it, with aromas of green apple and citrus fruit forward.  This wine has a medium body and would be fantastic with heavier seafoods and dense vegetable dishes.
