2006 Gigante Refosco Dal Peduncolo Rosso
Our Price:
$23.99
Producer: Gigante Adriano
Vintage: 2006
Region: Friuli-Venezia Giula
Sub-Region: Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC
Varietal: Refosco (100%)
Color: Red
A captivating wine from a unique grape that is especially beloved in Friuli, northern Italy. Violets aromas and berries show on the nose, while the structured yet juicy mouth delivers wave after wave of black fruit, berry-suffused power. While Slovenia and Croatia also grow Refosco, the special sub-variety Refosco dal Pedunculo Rosso is known only in Friuli. Manual harvest with grape selection. Maceration for ten days at a controlled temperature of 28 degrees with maturation of a part of the must in oak barrels of 350 liters, and the remainder fermented in stainless steel. Aging in barrels and steel for 12 months, then in bottle for 4 months. The color is red with purple hues. This wine is slightly tannic, full-bodied and balanced. Pair this wine first courses, with red meat and game.
