2011 Gege Verdicchio di Matelica
Our Price:
$23.99
Producer: Cavalieri
Vintage: 2011
Region: Marche
Color: White
Bright, crisp flavors of green apple and tangerine mingle gently with a refreshing bite. Metallic notes give it a structure that is sure to please any lover of whites! The wine-producing zone is one tenth of the size of its counterpart, with around 740 acres (300ha) under vine. Vineyards are located at an altitude of 1312ft (400m) on slopes that form part of the Apennines, in the provinces of Macerata and Ancona. The terroir is ideal for the cultivation of vines, as the climate is continental and the soils are mineral rich with a calcareous clay content. Hailing from the Adriatic coast, this white is a perfect pairing for shellfish and other seafood dishes. The acidity provides a fine backbone for creamy sauces, fatty fish (salmon, mackerel) and soft-ripened cheeses.
