Cupanos Rosso di Montalcino is a full bodied wine from 100% Sangiovese Grosso. The quality of this vintage makes this Rosso powerful and sophisticated, a baby Brunello. Cupano is an organic farm in Montalcino with consistent delivery of quality red wines. This less formal Rosso di Montalcino offers ripe cherry and blackberry notes followed by aromas of wet earth, leather and fresh tobacco. Pair it with Irish lamb stew. Wine Enthusiast, 96 Points

Cabernet, Merlot, Sangiovese - the composition of many of the so-called Super Tuscan wines of central Italy. The blend can be made to any number of variations, but the combination typically draws on the power and structure of Cabernet Sauvignon, the sweet, juicy fruit flavors of Merlot, and the rustic, sour-cherry tang of Sangiovese. The wines may be produced in a style suited to early consumption, or built into robust cuvees that require many years of bottle maturation to reach their peak. The Sant Antimo DOC takes its name from the magnificent Romanesque 12th-century Abbey of Sant Antimo, which sits in a valley surrounded by vineyards. Located in Tuscanys Montalcino area in central Italy, the DOC covers almost precisely the same production zone as the prestigious Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and its DOC siblings, Rosso di Montalcino and Moscadello di Montalcino. A precious vintage for Brunello, the 2004 Cupano Brunello di Montalcino is a masterpiece. Aromas of plums, vanilla and licorice are followed by a long persistent finish. This is a very balanced wine. There is no doubt that Cupano is one of the most exciting discoveries I have made in the past ten years. Ian dAgata, Italys top wine writer, This is the single best up and coming producer in Brunello today, Ecco Guide, At the sell-out Brunello Masterclass at Decanters Fine Wine Encounter in Nov 2010 the Brunello di Montalcino Cupano 2004 won the public vote.
