Cantine Belisario was started in 1971. Today, they have 300 hectares planted, and a cellar
with a capacity of 30,000 hectolitres. It is the largest producer of
Verdicchio di Matelica D.O.C. All of the vineyards, located in the Alta
Valle Esina, are within 10 minutes from the cellar.
The Alta Valle Esina marks the unique difference in the wines: the
difference in temperature is that of continental climates, while the
sunshine is typically Mediterranean. This microclimate favors a
large concentration of aromas, the full preservation of the wine’s
acidity, a physiologically limited production and a full, complete (sometimes extreme) maturation. The Verdicchio wines represent the traditional style of the area.
