Description

The Muri-Gries vineyards are on an ideal southeast-facing slope where the soils are calcareous, ideal for making Pinot Noir. The wine is fermented in stainless steel and then put into large Slavonian oak casks of 30hl to 50hl, which means this Pinot does not take a lot of flavor from the barrels. You get a wine that is more a reflection of the terroir, and this one shows its origins! The Muri-Gries Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir or Blauburgunder in German) has a lingering aroma that is fruity with crisp ripe cherries and blackcurrants, and the taste has a fullness and middling structure, blackberries and raspberries, tangy with some laurel and tarragon, slightly ethereal, playful and complex, pronounced tannins, stimulating acidity, berry fruit, youthfully unsophisticated and elegantly rustic.
