The
Gianfranco Alessandria 2019 Barbera d'Alba is a tart and punchy
expression, with bright cherry and a dusting of great minerality. The wine touches down on the palate with just the right fruit
weight and intensity, showing a mid-weight texture and nice acidity to
keep the palate revived and fresh. This is such a versatile and natural
foodie wine to pair with any hearty home-cooked meal, especially
something buttery and French. Some 15,000 bottles were made."
"Gianfranco Alessandria took over
managing his family's farm in 1986, after the passing of his father. one of the best known vineyardsin Piomonte. At the end of the 80's, at the
urging of his cousin, Mauro Veglio, he began to bottle small portions of
his wine.
All the wines are aged in neutral oak, with the exception of the San
Giovanni, which sees a small percentage of new barrels. Gianfranco
produces approximately 35,000 bottles each vintage of stunning wines
with great integrity. 92 Point Robert Parker
