Like most of the Italian regions, Abruzzo boasts a winemaking tradition that is lost in the mists of time. Its wines were very famous already in Roman times and enological tradition is still well represented by the current production. Two are the wines that have made the region famous: Trebbiano d'Abruzzo and Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. The first is produced with Bombino Bianco also known as Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, while the latter is produced with Montepulciano grape that in Abruzzi is expressed excellently.
Among other white grapes of the region extremely representative are Passerina, Pecorino, Biancame and Cococciola.
