2011 Lagrein Riserva DOC is made with 100% Lagrein grapes, grown in the
vineyards of the convent of Muri Gries in the Sudtirol DOC, a province in the
region of Alto Adige in Northern Italy.
This phenomenal wine is a deep ruby red, and the nose is
layered with aromas of dark cherries, currants, nutmeg, tobacco, leather, and
hints of herbs. In the mouth, it is rich with flavors of black currants,
tobacco and hints of licorice along with rich, soft tannins and a long finish. A
very concentrate and full-body wine with convincing structure, finesse and
character, it pairs well with mushroom risotto, meaty pasta dishes, grilled meats, and
aged cheeses.
