Description Extended Information

2011 Lagrein Riserva DOC is made with 100% Lagrein grapes, grown in the vineyards of the convent of Muri Gries in the Sudtirol DOC, a province in the region of Alto Adige in Northern Italy.

This phenomenal wine is a deep ruby red, and the nose is layered with aromas of dark cherries, currants, nutmeg, tobacco, leather, and hints of herbs. In the mouth, it is rich with flavors of black currants, tobacco and hints of licorice along with rich, soft tannins and a long finish. A very concentrate and full-body wine with convincing structure, finesse and character, it pairs well with mushroom risotto, meaty pasta dishes, grilled meats, and aged cheeses.

90 Points Wine Enthusiats, Michel Garner 94 Points , Gambero Rosso Tre Bicchieri Award Winner.

Nose, all dark fruits, cassis, blackberry, pickled plum, balsamic, very dense body, Chocolate, Licorice, leather, sweet tobacco, great lingering finish with a present acidity to counter-balance the well structured tannins.

5 of 5 Out standing & precious wine November 15, 2018

terrific Lagrein, cherry and plum fruit with some characteristic meatiness built out around a herbaceous core, lots of tension and energy, excellent across a meal that ranged from strongly flavored seafood dishes (lightly smoked sablefish) through braised suckling lamb.

Perfect red wines with good structure and intensity, which need oxygenation to open up and develop its intense and complex aromas!
