Meruzzano Barbaresco DOCG comes from the municipality of Treiso, in the Northern Italian region of Piemonte. Barbaresco must be made from 100% Nebbiolo and be aged for at least 2 years before release. The color is a garnet red and the nose has aromas of raspberries, violets, spices, leather, and hints of geranium. The palate is rich, with flavors of ripe cherries, currants, tobacco, spices and supple tannins, leading to a lengthy flavorful finish. This phenomenal wine is ready for enjoyment now but can develop with several further years of aging due to its great balance and acidity. It has a wonderful tannic structure with a lingering finish. Pair it with grilled meats, hearty pasta dishes, assorted salumi, and aged cheeses.
You can't go wrong with a classic wine like the 2013 Barbaresco
Meruzzano. This pristine Nebbiolo reveals variety-driven tones of minerality with finely-tuned notes of cassis, wild berry and rosehip. The aromas show a very clean and focused
quality. In the mouth, this pretty Barbaresco offers good dimension and
finesse with silky, linear tannins. (ML)

Vinous
Abrigo's 2013 Barbaresco Meruzzano is deep, powerful and
intense. Black cherry, tobacco, smoke, scorched earth, licorice and
menthol give the 2013 much of its distinctive virile, imposing
personality. This is an especially brooding, somber Barbaresco. (AG)

Wine Enthusiast
The nose is initially closed but eventually reveals toasted oak,
hazelnut, dark berry and cake spice. The firm palate shows French oak,
vanilla, star anise, baked plum and oak-driven spices alongside
close-grained tannins that leave a firm finish. (KO)
