The history of the Fay family is particularly linked to Valgella, the sub-area of Valtellina that offers some of the most elegant Nebbiolo, or Chiavennasca as it is usually called locally, of the entire denomination. The Fay farm in fact concentrates.
This is their top wine and certainly needs more time to blossom. Shows more classic Chiavennasca/Nebbiolo characteristics in the denser, chewy tannins, balsamic and licorice root flavors, and more ‘earthy’ feel. This is the one for the cellar, but it is very ready to drink
The Carterìa vineyard covers an area of 3 hectares in the Valgella sub-zone at 500 meters. In the town of San Giacomo di Teglio, where the Fay family has always owned some plots of land. The winery has started incorporating this land into its estate and replanting of the vines is in progress. This beautiful Cartaria riserva Is made with a selection of the best Nebbiolo in the Cartaria zone and has been fermented for 12 months in 30 Hl oak casks and 500 Lt barrels and aged another 15 months in a bottle before release. Wonderful acidity and elegant tannins make this a fantastic wine for a variety of dishes whether it be Veal, chicken, or red pasta. We recommend opening this wine an hour before enjoying it.
