Made of 100% Sangiovese grown on clay, marl, and limestone soils, this fabulous Chianti has an intense ruby red color with purple highlights. After hand-harvesting and careful selection of the grapes, fermentation take place in stainless steel followed by a
2-week maceration period. Then, the wine is aged in French oak casks for
6 months, and in stainless steel for 6 months, and an additional 9 months
in the bottle prior to release.
The nose has pleasant floral and spicy notes such as cinnamon and clove, with hints of leather and vanilla, over a rich, base
of blackberry, underbrush, cedar, and plum aromas.
The firm, smooth, and silky palate is concentrated and juicy, and delivers black-currant and tobacco, with a
powerful structure, good length, and nice acidity. Fine-grained mature tannins are
perfectly balanced with the alcohol.
Compared to previous vintages, it has more depth and concentration on the nose, and more refinement with regards to oak. Pair it with steak, roasted meats, game, hard cheeses, and hearty pastas. 94 point James Suckling
