This is a beautiful wine, and a remarkable example of Barbaresco, elegance, and power which is balanced beautifully. The steep Ovello vineyard overlooks the hilltop hamlet of Barbaresco and beautifully trellised countryside. A vineyard that was previously owned by Gaja, this Barbaresco is
offering outstanding quality at a fraction of the price of those made by its former owner.
2016 Ovello is an outstanding vintage, massive wine of great structure. A deeply perfumed nose, a firm
dryness on the palate and it finishes with great elegance and length.
"Menthol, new leather, blue flower, and sage aromas lead this wine's nose,
along with a whiff of toast. Taut and savory, it offers red berry, star anise, clove, and a bit of tobacco on the palate.
Youthfully assertive, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity with
structure."
