This magnificent Riesling is made with 100%
Riesling grapes, grown on limestone-rich alpine soils, in steep hillside
vineyards of Sud Tyrol, a province of the Northern Italian region of Alto
Adige.
Kellerei Meran Burggrafler is a cooperative
of 380 micro farmers, who own about 260 hectares of some of the best vineyards
of the Southwestern part of the Sudtirol DOC. After hand-harvesting, the grapes
are pressed and naturally fermented at controlled temperatures in small
stainless steel tanks, where the wine rests on the lees for a period of at
least 5 months. In the glass, the wine has a vibrant yellow color with greenish
hints.
On the nose, it is elegantly complex, showing
aromas of citrus, peach, and mango, and mineral notes.
The palate is lively, with flavors of pears, stone fruits, fresh herbs, brisk
acidity, and a long mineral finish.
Pair with white meat, seafood, salads, and assorted cheeses.
