Castello di Castellengo is located at the foot of Monte Rosa in the Alpine chain, in northern Piemonte in the region of Biella. Centovigne is a modern winery with historic roots, started in 1999 yet the wines are produced as they were in the 17 century. The DOC of Coste della Sesia presents unique climatic characteristics, positively affected by the presence of the Monte Rosa behind the Po Valley laid out below. The sandy/clay soils of Mottalciata especially give the wines a particular mineral complexity and a longevity.
The 2010 comes from soil comprised of marine sands on igneous rock, mixed with more recent glacial sediment. 100% Nebbiolo, hand-harvested and aged in barrique for 24 months, this is a medium bodied, yet fruity and delicately toasted expression, with a touch of balsamic on the nose, long and mineral in mouth, perfect with roast and grilled meat in general.
