Antonelli San Marco is a 420 acre wine and farming estate located centrally within Montefalco's DOCG region. Although the Antonelli estate has been in operation since 1881, they rely just as much on ongoing research as they do on their rich agricultural background to produce the best possible quality wine from their vineyards. Antonelli’s winemaking leans towards a natural and harmonious philosophy in order to produce elegant and intricate wines rather than overpowering the vineyard’s natural ability. Below is a list of red wines and white wines we carry from Antonelli. Antonelli Montefalco Rosso
2010 Antonelli Montefalco Rosso
Our Price: $17.99

Producer: Antonelli
Vintage: 2010
Region: Umbria
Sub-Region: Montefalco DOC
Varietal: Sangiovese (70%), Sagrantino (15%), Merlot (15%)
Color: Red
The three varietals of this wine are blended perfectly, then aged in 25 hL oak barrels for 9 months with clarification in cement vats occurring for 3 months, and lastly bottle aging for 6 months. The result is a deep ruby red color with purple tints with a bouquet abounding in wild berries, cherries, plums and enjoyable toasted aromas. This is a beautifully balanced wine. Serve this wine with risotto, tagliatelle, ravioli, rare beef, roasted and grilled meats or poultry, and mature hard cheeses. The small amount of Sagrantino (15%) in the blend goes a long way to bolster the cherry-like fruitiness of Sangiovese and adds a savory character. This attractively earthy wine is ready to drink now with a hearty dish on a winters night. 89 Michael Apstein Feb 25, 2014

Antonelli Extra Vergine 2013
Our Price: $33.99

Olive varieties: Moraiolo (70%) & Frantoio (30%)
Harvest: handpicked in mid October.
Color: emerald green.
Taste: medium-strong, slightly piquant particularly when freshly pressed.
Aroma: fruity, with an intense fragrance and aromatic notes of artichoke, fresh grass, green olives and walnuts.
The olive groves, or chiuse, grow on very stoney soil and terrain especially suited to the cultivation of olives at an altitude of 400 m.a.s.l.; with southern exposure. Production method: the olives are pressed within 24 hours using the continual cold extraction process allowing the outstanding organoleptic qualities of the oil to be preserved. The oil is not filtered so there may be a layer of deposit visible; this does not in any way affect the quality of the oil. The organic cultivation of the olives is certified by the IMC. They are grown without the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizers. Serving suggestions: especially recommended drizzled over salads, cooked vegetables, pulses, pasta, soups and grilled meats.
Antonelli Chiusa di Pannone Sagrantino 2006
2006 Antonelli Chiusa di Pannone Sagrantino
Our Price: $54.99
Sale Price: $49.99
Savings: $5.00

Chiusa is made from Antonellis paramount Sagrantino di Montefalco, made from the best selection massale grafts on rootstock. This wine is stored in lightly toasted barrels for 6 months, then in oak barrels for 15 months, with clarification in cement vats for 3 months, and lastly, aged in the bottle for two years. This is a very tannic and rustic wine, that will pair ideally with red meats and heartier dishes. Deep ruby. Explosive aromas of sweet, ripe red cherry, chocolate-covered plum, violet, and cappuccino. Enters rich and suave, then turns somewhat more austere, offering lovely purity to its red fruit and sweet baking spice flavors. Displays lovely balance for a Sagrantino with the Antonelli-signature silky tannins and great length. Very well done.
