Mandrolisai symbolizes a land and its wine in one name. The Cantina del Mandrolisai was named after one of the innermost regions of Sardinia, whose geographical and climatic features (scarce rainfalls and long summers) come together to produce very unique wines. The vineyards are situated at the foot of on of the highest mountain ranges on the island.
The village records show that there are three times as many people over one hundred years old living in Sorgono, Sardinia than in western Europe. A group of researchers from the Queen Mary University of London give some credit to the Polyphenol content of the area's red wines (the compound that effects a key molecule called Endothelin-1, which helps dialiate blood vessels and so assists in preventing heart disease). Kent'annos (hundred years) is therefore referred to as "the fountain of youth" wine.
Cantina del Mandrolisai produces more than half the quantity of wine made for the Wine Growers’ Cooperative of Mandrolisai, established in 1950, sited in Sorgono.
Mandrolisai Kent'annos Rosso is made from a blend of Cannonau, Muristeddu (Bovale Sardo and Monica grapes) which are co-fermented, and the color is deep ruby red with garnet inflections. The nose is rich, complex, with a hint of spice, while the palate is dry yet generous, with a remarkable lingering finish. Pairs best with gamey meats like roasted venison, and matured Pecorino cheese. We recommend decanting this wine for 30 minutes before enjoying.

This is a remarkable and delicious blend from Sardinia, it needs about an hour to open up, but when it does you're in for a treat, full body red, well balanced with lots of dark fruit flavors, hints of herbal notes, spices and juicy tannins
