In 2016 La Fortuna decided not to make Brunello, and to put all their grapes into their Rosso.
It was an extraordinary financial sacrifice, but it puts their Rosso 2016 in a different class.
This is another
wine from Montalcino’s south slope and it’s full of ripe Sangiovese
fruit, from vines 25–35 years of age, 6 months in 25 Hl Slovenian oak barrels, 6 months in French barriques and then 3 months in the bottle before they leave the domain. A wine with strong fruity aromas , intense and fascinating. Surrounded by herbs, earthy notes, and licorice. Balanced with good acidity. Very suitable for full rich dishes, grilled meat, and game. Also recommended for porcini mushrom dishes!
