The 2009 Ortaia has an aromatic complexity that is outstanding, with notes of rose and violet, strawberry, blackberry, iris, violet and carnation. With bright red cherry notes and pomegranate on the palate, it shows beautiful harmony and balance due to the structure of the tannins, with a long delicious finish. Hints of spices such as white pepper, cinnamon, and cloves also lend to the overall complexity of the wine. On the finish, it is fresh and vibrant with good tannin structure without being too overpowering. Ortaia is aged for at least one year in barrique with fining in the bottle. Pairs well with Red Meats, Stews, Meaty Pasta Dishes, Salumi, Aged/ Spice Crusted Cheeses
