Lugana Mandolara is made from 100% Turbiana di Lugana
grapes grown on the producer’s vineyars in Peschiera del Garda, one of the Major Communes in
the Lugana DOC
growing area, located in the province of Verona in the Region of Veneto in
Northern Italy. The Lugana DOC
straddles the southern edge of the Lago di Garda and includes the Municipalities
of Peschiara del
Garda, Desenzano, Pozzolengo, Lonato and Sirmione. The
appelation’s
location on the south side of the lake make it an ideal viticultural zone
with rich calcareous clay soils with a high content of saline minerals. The
soils composition is what allows the Turbiana grapes to reach both a high level of
natural ripeness, which stimulates natural malolactic fermentation, and a high degree of olfactory intensity. The
Lugana Bianco DOC
specifications require wines
to be made with at least 90% Turbiana di Lugana
grapes, however most producers use exclusively 100% Turbiana.
In
the glass the 2015 Le Morette Lugana Mandolara is a
pale straw yellow color. The nose is rich with tropical fruit aromas and hints
of citrus, flinty stone and spices. The palate is layered with flavors of fresh
pineapple, peaches and apples followed
by a beautifully long crisp mineral finish . Pairs well with Fish, Seafood
especially Sea Scallops, Risotto Dishes and White Meat.
