Petite Arvine is highly
regarded as the finest grape variety of Valais in its country of origin,
Switzerland. Not only is Petite Arvine the most widely planted grape of Valais,
but the village of Fully, the Petite Arvine capitol, holds annual festivals
celebrating this delicious grape and the wines it produces. Because of its
quest for perfection in Valais, there are a few producers that attempt to make
a Petite Arvine outside of Switzerland, and those producers are mostly in
France and Italy, where the terrain of the Alps crosses the three countries
borders. It is in these areas that this late ripening, light skinned grape can
develop a sophisticated balance of minerality and acidity. Feudo di San Maurizios
Petite Arvine is an absolutely fantastic wine. In the glass it’s a
brilliant yellow straw color. The nose is floral with aromas of jasmine, apple,
plum and citrus. The palate is layered with flavors of green apple, grapefruit
and wildflowers along with bright acidity and a slightly saline minerality.
Enjoy with Seafood/Fish
Dishes, Aged Cheese, Bitter Greens Salads or Carpaccios.
