Description

This fabulous blend is made the Burgundy style. The blend of 95% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% Incrocio Manzoni comes from a south-facing vineyard in the village of Teglio in Valtellina, close to the border with Switzerland.
This vineyard has a sandy and silty soil and was re-planted in 1997 near a secular forest. After hand harvesting, the wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks with cold maceration at a controlled temperature for 24 hours.
then aging in a stainless steel barrel for 3 months, then after another 2 months in brand new french barrels, before bottling. The combination of clod weather and french oak barrel gives it a straightforward flavor. like dill, nutmeg, and coconut notes, along with a customary vanilla and butter combination.
Pair it with mushroom pasta, oyster, shellfish, and white fish like trout, cod, or halibut.

1. SandroFay Ronco Valene IGT: Alpi Retiche (13%;95% SauvBlanc/5% Incrocio Manzoni; ToscoImports/Richmond) SanGiacomo di Teglio 2018: Ligfht gold color; fairly herbal/SB/ripe/melony somewhat earthy/chalky/steely light floral/perfumed talc quite fragrant SB nose; fairly tart/tangy some steely/metallic quite mineral/chalky/bit earthy some herbal/SB/slight weedy flavor; very long/lingering quite tart/tangy/metallic/steely quite mineral/chalky/stony light SB/herbal/earthy finish; nose is distinctly SB but quite mineral/steely on the palate; fairly rich & not at all lean/eviscerated; some like a Loire SB but more richness & texture; quite an attractive SB w/ lots of steely/mineral character; needs food to go with it; a bit pricey at $37.00 (EVN)

5 of 5 A lovely white! July 22, 2018

I couldn’t expect such an amazing white from Lombardia!
Dry, very  complex and layered, with intense fruity aromas!
One of my favorite whites from EVN.
