A
blend of four varietals, 70
% Sangiovese (selected from the oldest vines), 15% Sagrantino, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot and
then aged in lightly toasted 500 L barrels for 6 months then in larger 25
hL
barrels for 12 months followed by clarification which occurs in cement vats for 3
months before bottle aging for 12 months. The result is an intense ruby red
color with a delicate bouquet of plums, cherry, and spices. The character is
elegant with mature red fruits and balanced
tannins. Pair this wine with grilled and roasted
meat,
lasagna,
and
mature cheeses or cold
cuts.

Tasting Notes: Open,
warm and spicy nose with aromas of undergrowth, ripe black fruits, a balsamic
touch and a dried fruit note. Full, fresh palate with tightly-wound, firm
tannins. A trace of bitterness on the finish.
