The 2012 is a fantastic vintage for Tenutarossa. This is a
powerful, rich and complex wine.
Tenutarossa Montepulciano d’Abruzzo is obtained from the oldest vineyards
(40 years old) with a yield of 80/90 quintals per hectare. The grapes
are picked up during the third decade of October and then pressed and
fermented for 20 days. After a storage of 18 months in steel tanks to
facilitate the decantation, the wine ages for about 18 - 22 months in 20
hl oak barrels. Visually, the
wine has a rich red color that is both bold and beautiful. This wine has a
complex bouquet of ripe red
fruit and dark
berries combined with an earthy intrigue framed by hints of toasty oak, tobacco
spices, vanilla and cinnamon. Well rounded with a good, soft structure and a long, full finish where the richness and complexity
dominate. Pairs well with
Lasagna, first courses with tomato sauce, braised meats, wild game, grilled red
meat, strongly seasoned or herbal cheeses, sausage, and lamb.
