The Colli Tortonesi DOC of Piemonte is located around the town of Tortona, referred to in the local dialect as Derthona, in the eastern most part of the State in the Province of Alessandria. Timorasso is an ancient native white grape varietal that was virtually extinct and revived by renowned winemaker Walter Massa in the 1980's. The 2015 Luigi Boveri Derthona Timorasso is made from 100% Timorasso Grapes grown in the Comune of Costa Vescovato on marly calcareous vineyards, after temperature controlled fermentation the wine is aged on the lees for 12 months in pressure controlled stainless steel tanks and bottled fined for a further 12 months before release. In the glass the wine is a golden yellow straw color. The nose is complex with aromas of ripe yellow peaches, citrus and flinty minerals. The palate offers up mouth watering texture with flavors of stone fruit, tropical fruits and hints of wildflowers balanced by racy acidity, great minerality and a lingering finish. This wine will pair well with Risotto Dishes, Fish, White Meat, Bitter Greens Salads, Aged Cheeses and Vegetable Pasta Dishes.
