The 2016 Kellerei Meran Burggrafler Festival Rosalie Rose DOC is made with 60% Zweigelt, 20% Lagrein and 20% Merlot Grapes that are grown on limestone rich alpine soils in steep hillside vineyards outside of the town of Marlengo in the Sud Tyrol Province of the Alto Adige Region in Northern Italy. Kellerei Meran Burggrafler is a cooperative of some 380 micro farmers who own about 260 hectares of some of the best vineyards in the Southwestern Part of the Sudtirol DOC.
After hand harvesting the grapes are pressed and fermented at controlled temperatures in small stainless steel tanks where the wine rests on the lees for a period of no less than 5 months.
In the glass the wine is a rich and brilliant pink with hints of ruby color.
On the nose its has aromas of fresh red berries, currants and cherries.
The palate is fresh fruity and complex with flavors of wild raspberries, black cherries, fresh herbs, cocoa, brisk acidity, hints of minerals and a lingering finish.
This wine will pair well with White Meat, Fish, Seafood, Salads and Mild Cheeses.
